Happy #5 :-)

We finally have another boy in the family!
And he's turning 5 today!!!

His name is Aravind & he lives in India.
Kenzie met him last summer and knew he was 'the one' for us (to sponsor & love).

He has the cutest little smile, see?

He's shy at first (so I'm told)
but after a bit, his spunky side comes out.

He loves to play on the playground.

He's working hard at school, too, learning his letters & numbers.

He is quite an excellent color-er!

(I wish I had scanned the picture he sent to us last month -- a carefully colored, all green, donkey!  But I was anxious to share it with Kenzie, so I mailed it right off, and it now adorns her apartment wall.)

Aravind's grandma & grandpa have leprosy
and have been banished to a colony away from the rest of civilization,
because so many in India still believe
that Leprosy is a curse given to people by God.

His mom is alone to raise Aravind & his sister, Nithya;
and she has made the hard decision to send them to Rising Star Outreach
where they can attend school & have a bright future.

His grandparents & mom travel to the school every month on Parent's Day
to visit their beloved (grand)children.

Kenzie says he is smart
and sure to grow up and use the education he's getting to
make his corner of the world a better place.

And, we are so lucky to be part of something so wonderful.

Rising Star Outreach's mission is AMAZING in it's simplicity,
but so powerful to make a difference
in the lives of some of God's children.

I am only one,
But still I am one.
I cannot do everything,
But still I can do something,
And because I cannot do everything,
I will not refuse to do the something that I can do.
