Porter Runs A Marathon . . .

(kinda!)

For the past 2-1/2 months, Porter has run a couple miles per week after school
with the Marathon Club (totaling 25.2 miles),

And today, he ran the last mile of the OC Marathon
(which is to be held tomorrow)
bringing his total to 26.2 miles!

Abbie helps Porter get his bib & timing chip on
(Note the sweet running shoes complements of G'pa,
who's always up for supporting his grandkids athletic efforts!  Thanks Grandpa!!)

This picture includes about 1/2 of the kids from de Portola Elementary who participated in the program.

And, they're off!

All told, almost 3,000 kids participated in the run today -- It was a Z.O.O :-)

Here's Porter looking strong about half way through.
He ended up placing in the top 100 of the 500 10-yr-olds heat with a time of 8.18 min;
he's taken over a minute off his personal best from 2 months ago!

After his run, we had a great time collecting all the free stuff
from Health Expo exhibits set up in preparation for the Marathon tomorrow

Sweet Wahoo's slip-on!

I think Porter's favorite was a lego robotics demo!

Congratulations Porter!

Dad, Abbie & I had a great time cheering for you!

And, here's the promised footage for g'ma & g'pa :-)

That's awesome! Way to go Porter! There was a group from our school as well (not us, obviously) they were the LaMaderathon runners. Maybe next year...

That is some kind of amazing!!! Jeff needs a new running partner if Porter is up to it - I think they both run at the same speed right now. Way to go Porter!!! Next up... LA Marathon?
